Why This Must Be Read: My first reaction on reading this was, "Break my heart, why don't you?"

Jack's Ancient gene triggers a certain... option on the Quantum Mirror, and he gets too much of an eyeful at what-might-have-been. Or what-is-happening-elsewhere, really.

Teal'c and Jack friendship for the absolute win and Jack's intense grief both make this absorbing, wrenching, and a must-read.

The mirror got shunted off to a remote SGC science department storeroom, safely contained, and started gathering dust. Until the night Jack couldn’t sleep.

I love each and every one of them here. Bill Lee shines, Janet has a great cameo, and the comfort of the final scene is an absolute joy. Make sure you've got the time to read this all in one sitting, because you won't be able to stop!

Why This Must Be Read: I love early S1 Teal'c, when our favorite Jaffa is still trying to come to grips with the bizarre world and culture of the Tau'ri. And I love Jack fulfilling his promise to show Teal'c "our world." So this story, where a trip to a hockey game ends in disaster and Teal'c hasn't yet learned to cope with emergencies outside the SGC, is definitely a winner! Add some extra teamy goodness and classic Teal'c pwnage at the end of the fic for an extra treat. :)

I love their understanding of one another and Jack's unique brand of comfort and peace at a time that Teal'c so badly needs it. Beautifully and powerfully done.

Jack glanced over at Teal'c. It was weird, seeing him aged, not just in body with the white at his temples and the fine lines around his eyes, but there was something else, too. An intangible bow to his back. A weight that even Bra'tac had never shown.

Why This Must Be Read: When Daniel leaps to Teal'c's defense in a fraught situation - without noticing that he might need a little defense of his own - Teal'c is left wondering how to deal with this particular Tau'ri. Jack's vague advice might not help very much, either.

I love very early S1 fic, particularly from Teal'c's POV. This is an excellent look at the very beginnings of team: their support of one another, acceptance of differences, and bonding together against outside menaces. An intelligent read, as Random's stories always are!

He was unsure what to make of the fact that a Tau'ri, a scholar, a man with more honor than sense it seemed, would act as his defender. It was...unsettling. It was also--extraordinary. And it seemed it was...Daniel.

What was left of his anger is gone now, defeated by logic and truth. Grief is harder to bear, but easier to hide. He pushes it away, puts on his colonel face and carries on.
