Why This Must Be Read: Here's some oldskool fic to brighten your day!

In the wake of One False Step, various members of the SG-1 reach out to one another to make amends after their various dustups while under the influence of off-key singing plants. (That's an accurate description of the episode, but it sounds like the crackiest summary of the crackiest fanfic ever, doesn't it?) It's deft, wry, and perfectly in character - and a very satisfying coda to the episode.

The slow and steady beat of their understanding wove its way across the phone line, un-vocalized but not unheard, like the deep and vital tones of an alien world.

Why This Must Be Read: In honor of Father's Day and Teal'c, who was always amazingly gentle with children and gave up the chance to mentor his own for the sake of his son's future...

It's early S1, before the team knows that Ry'ac even exists, and Jack takes Teal'c to the local mall where a glimpse of a karate class brings up painfully wistful memories. Brief, poignant, and stoic - in short, perfectly Teal'c.

Why This Must Be Read: If the Ancient gene was such a valuable commodity in Atlantis that they wrote a completely ignorant and inexperienced John into the mission based on the strength of his, why would they ignore a young, vastly experienced guy who already knew about everything and had the gene as well?

In this two-part series, they didn't... and clone!Jack ends up as part of the Atlantis expedition.

These two stories don't actually get us to Atlantis, but it's an intriguing, well-written premise. And who knows? Maybe some feedback will prompt the author to write more! :)
