Why This Must Be Read: I adore Cassie and Teal'c friendship fics: the two aliens who have found a place on Earth, but still sometimes feel very much like outsiders. Teal'c offering consolation to Cassie, just after Heroes, is absolutely perfect.

The fic is labeled as "hints at Sam/Jack." This gen girl read it and wondered, "What hints?" So this works with whatever goggles you use. :)


He was her anchor, her alien uncle who reminded her that no matter how truly alien she may feel among the Tauri at times, this was exactly where she belonged.

Why This Must Be Read: This is George in delicous General Hammond rocks! mode, dealing with each original member of SG-1 in turn - with grace, with wry humor, with just enough selective blindness, and with every ounce of class that makes him the best general the SGC ever had.

Why This Must Be Read: This one is for the fans of nu!SG-1 (aka S9-10). Remember Line in the Sand opening with the team returning from a successful test of Merlin's device? This is a great peek in Sam's head during that mission, reflecting on team and teamwork and the loss of Daniel.


If the best they could do for now was hide, then Sam would figure out how to hide the whole damn galaxy, if she had to. But first, she had to start small.

Why This Must Be Read: A powerfully bleak Teal'c perspective on Unending, and why the loss of fifty years of close friendship was, in his estimation, the lesser evil.

Lovely (if ouchy) stuff, with an extra focus of Sam and Teal'c friendship.


It pains him to talk with them now of those fifty lost years, years that for him are still very real and very recent.

Why This Must Be Read: Part of me thinks this reads so well to me because, like Sam in this story, I am an outsider to SGA trying to work it out. But most of me thinks this is simply a fantastic, gripping fic that both SGA and SG-1 fans can love!

This is early Sam-in-command-of-Atlantis, still dealing with she's-not-Elizabeth-Weir resentment from the Atlantis team. This is Sam, dealing with a mystery and bad guys with courage and brains and sheer determination. This is Sam and Teyla being awesome together and the team working flawlessly. Add some delightful SG-1 crossing over with superb characterization, and you've got a long, satsifying read that'll definitely leave you wanting more!

One final note: the author labels this as "S/J, but could be read with gen goggles." There was only a single line or two in the final paragraphs that required me to settle my gen goggles firmly on my nose to read as casual male/female friendship, but for Sam/Jack fans, consider that aspect a bonus.

Why This Must Be Read: Oldskool!style fic, complete with off-world shenanigans, teamy goodness, medical and moral dilemmas, and SG-1 running roughshod over evil off-world government officials. Add competent supporting characters (SG-3! SG-13!), Hammond as the reluctant voice of reason, Janet at her spitfire best, and an unexpected clever solution to what seems an insolvable problem... it all adds up to a great story that would easily translate to an episode onscreen.

Why This Must Be Read: Oldskool classic fic! So oldskool, in fact, that it contains two of the fanon tropes that usually have me hitting the back button with enthusiasm. Yet I read this long, satisfying story at a gulp, loving that this was canon and yet gave us such a fascinating alternate perspective!

I've always firmly believed that if anyone is working at the SGC, they are competent and the best of the best. Felger is the exception that proves the rule. So when Marzipan portrays Dr. Mackenzie, even in the midst of Legacy, as an intelligent, competent doctor...

Here is Mackenzie: professional, dedicated, genuinely doing his best. And here is Jack and Teal'c and Sam, driven to somehow cure Daniel through sheer mental effort. And here is Daniel: trapped in hallucinations, just aware enough to know his mind is disintegrating.

Everyone is wonderful here. Everyone. Settle down and read this one with enjoyment.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a Sam fic, mostly. But it's also team fic, and friendship fic, and Discworld fic.
