Why This Must Be Read:  It's just a day in the life of SG-1... In other words, expect things to be absolutely insane. :)

There are so many things I love about this fic. The humor isn't OTT, but rather inherent in the ridiculous situations caused by the characters acting like themselves and getting into trouble. The dialogue is snappy and rings true, and even the characters recognize the ridiculousness of their situation. C'est la Vie... That's just life in the SGC.

While the story technically begins offworld, Daniel's frantic escape through the Gate just serves as the introduction to the actual story, which is essentially SG-1's antics on the base. Of course Teal'c, when investigating witchcraft, would snag a research volume from Daniel's shelves and borrow Cassie's copy of The Craft - and see no difference between the two. Of course Jack would do anything to discover exactly what Daniel's middle name means, from pumping the other members of the team to quizzing the members of Daniel's departments. Of course Daniel, when discovering exactly what Sam and Teal'c are trying to do, would offer his help, based on anthropological research and his own experiences on Abydos.

Of course it all goes wrong.

And, most delightful of all, of course it's Janet who manages to solve Sam's problem in the end. Just call her the Little Witch Doctor. Other highlights include Daniel's one-sided (or, at least, one-heard) argument with Sam, Teal'c's " I informed you we should not have used the foxglove," and Jack's final triumph.

Did I mention that Nyan and Rothman guest star, and that their sections are as funny as the rest of the fic? "I want to be like you when I grow up..." Hee!

It would be ridiculously easy to visualize this taking place in an actual episode, running concurrent as the character development to some other plot. This fic is a fun, light read that is sure to make the reader smile.

Why This Must Be Read:  "I want a geek."

Any fic that includes that wistful quote, spoken by a native girl from another planet, has got to be worth reading!

SG-1 gates to the "Matchmaker Planet" and are instantly accosted by eager women, hoping they've come to find wives. O'Neill uses an adroit Jackism to evade the question for himself and Sam, although Carter will probably be looking daggers at him for a while; but when Daniel isn't quite as fast off the mark, the enthusiastic girls drag him off to meet with Ranata the Matchmaker, leader of the people.

Daniel does, eventually, manage to explain that after being recently widowed, he really isn't interested in another mate at the moment. But while Ranata is convinced to change the topic of discussion to naquadah deposits, her helpers decide that if Daniel isn't interested in the women of PC3-279, the least they can do for him is help him find a proper match back on his home planet. Their amateur meddling doesn't work out exactly as they'd intended, though - in the classic phrase, wacky hijinks ensue.

With every estrogen-producing female in the SGC trying to get to Daniel, it's up to Jack and Teal'c to protect him. But even if he's hidden away in a locked room and guarded by SFs, is Daniel really safe from the determined efforts of Janet and Sam?

The final solution proves, while benign, to be nearly as embarrassing to Daniel as the problem itself. By the end of the story, things are more or less back to normal... Even if Daniel, in the absolutely perfect epilogue, doesn't quite realize it yet. And really, who can blame old Mrs. Lancaster for trying? :)

Why This Must Be Read:  It's very rare for me to actually like a S9 fic, much less rec one, so rest assured that this one is very highly recommended.

After all, it's got all of SG-1. And Jack O'Neill, in highly engaging Jack POV mode. And Vala, who I usually don't like very much, acting in character for a change - that is, deliciously shameless. And Dr. Lee, billing and cooing over buttons on a device he doesn't understand.

Oh, yes. And zombies.

While I personally don't understand the apparent charms of zombie!fic that so many others enjoy, this story had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. Definitely not work-safe, unless your screen is splutter-proof!

General Jack O'Neill is summoned by General Landry to come to the SGC and help deal with the latest crisis - SG-1 has been turned into zombies. The really funny thing is that despite being zombified, all the members of SG-1 remain decidedly in character. In fact, everyone is in character, which is what makes the difference between poor humor and good humor.

Mitchell, for example, is the enthusiastic fanboy I so enjoyed in the first episodes of the season. Banter between the various characters sounds just right. And when Jack and his Ancient gene makes a side trip to the Ori galaxy and meets up with Vala, she tries to offer her services in return for Daniel's assignment as her cabana boy.

This fic is a real treasure, from Jack's sadly all-too-standard hand gestures to Teal'c's arguments regarding tretonin to the satisfaction of the epilogue, when Jack joins SG-1 on a nostalgic mission through the Gate and ends up "grinning like a fool" while he dashes for safety from - oh, just read it and find out.

And don't forget the zombies!
