Why This Must Be Read: This is a lovely coda to the movie, as Jack breaks all security regs to tell Catherine what happened on the mission to Abydos and return her necklace as per Daniel's canon request: "Tell Catherine it brought me luck." It's easy to see this leading directly into Catherine and Jack's interactions in Torment of Tantalus, too.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a wonderful look at an unexpected friendship: Catherine Langford and Janet Frasier, from their first clash in Torment and Tantalus to a melancholy, solitary moment in the wake of Heroes. Both women shine here as their friendship deepens over the years, seen in snapshots that touch on various episodes. A really lovely story!


The two women shared a smile before Catherine hopped down from the gurney. “Dr. Fraiser, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got an Air Force to bully.”

Fraiser wasn’t about to bet against the white-haired steamroller who sailed purposefully from the infirmary. She handed off the file in her hands and went to check on Dr. Littlefield.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a thoughtful episode tag to Stargate: the Movie, offering a glimpse of the aftermath to a variety of different characters. (Well, Sha'uri's is more a prologue.) My personal favorite is Catherine Langford's, but all of these feel very real and very right.

Why This Must Be Read: Fic that features Catherine Langford is always a reason to cheer. And in this superb crossover, Catherine meets a younger Susan Pevensie, post Last Battle, as they both take comfort in intellectual pursuits in the wake of their respective griefs.

I love the way that neither Susan nor Catherine ever learns each other's secrets, even if they learn to share both mental challenges and the pain of loss. This is gorgeous backstory, sketching out a minor character and highlighting with her brilliance. Absolutely wonderful!
