Why This Must Be Read: Cofax offers a trio of Five Things here: five places on Earth that Teal'c wants to visit, five things that Daniel ate that he later regretted, and five promises that Jack has never broken. Marvelous character studies, all of them!
Be aware that the last of Jack's includes a reference to a future pairing (not with him) and a major character death (of old age). Interestingly, that one is among my favorites. But you'll find all of these good: thoughtful and wry and poignant and amusing and back again. Go enjoy!
"Daniel!" hissed Jack, kicking him under the table.
"What?" Daniel mumbled around the meaty filling. Green onions, garlic, and--not pork, not beef--he looked up at Jack's appalled face. "What?"
"Daniel, didn't you hear the guy? It's dog!"
Daniel looked down at his plate, where half the pastry still rested. The crust was buttery, flaking off, sticking to his fingers. He shrugged, and popped the second half into his mouth, licking his fingers to get all of it.
Jack didn't speak to him for three days, and channeled all his commands through Teal'c, who smirked through it all. Sam just rolled her eyes.
Truth be told, Daniel didn't really regret it: it was a very good pastry, and he got a lot more work done than usual. He made a note of that, for the next time. Jack never did find out that it actually had been chicken, for once.
