Why This Must Be Read: Join Ry'ac, some time in the distant future, in a celebration of life: Teal'c's journey and victory, and the Jaffa who leapt from slavery to independence in the span of a lifetime. And as Ry'ac rejoins the Jaffa after spending a decade on Earth - at his father's side in his declining years, when he'd outlived his Tau'ri friends - there is also the pride in his people when he looks upon them with fresh eyes: their endurance, their triumph, and their future.
Thoughtful, eloquent, and elegant, this lovely ficlet is a tribute to what we all want the Jaffa to become, as a legacy to the people we love who labored to make it happen.
Jaffa built from stone.
He'd spent so long amidst the modern steel and glass and concrete of the Tau'ri that he had nearly forgotten.
