Why This Must Be Read: This story is one of my favorite selections from the Daniel Alphabet Soup anthology. Tejas paints a dreamy, almost lyrical scene of Daniel doing what he loves most: studying the past, deciphering a language and its people, and creating a picture of what might-have-been.
I love the glimpse Tejas offers us of a quiet, contemplative mission, with nothing more or less than some meaning-of-life-stuff and a peaceful site study. Experiences like these are what keep Daniel going through the Gate... and make us so happy to along for the ride.
Before the numbing cold of the wormhole took him, Daniel sent a thought/wish/hope to The People.
May you find peace/love/serenity in your afterlife/rebirth/renewal and may we be dealt with as gently/honorably/respectfully by those who come/arrive/discover us.
