Why This Must Be Read: This charming little ficlet is both metaphorically and literally sweet: a peaceful moment of friendship between Teal'c and Daniel, at the beginning.

And of course this one pushes all my happy buttons, because JDJunkie wrote it at my request. :)

This world. Earth's. His world, and now Teal'c's.

Why This Must Be Read: When the purely human members of SG-1 have a delayed reaction to nishta, Teal'c and Jacob decide to seize the opportunity...

Teal'c pwnage and Jacob pwnage are apparently exponential. :)

This ficlet was originally my birthday present, and I have no idea why it took me so long to rec. Go read it now!

"They are usually most argumentative," agreed Teal'c, blandly.

"Yeah," said Jacob, thoughtfully. "Usually."

Jacob... said Selmak, warningly – but she said it with such amusement that he wasn't fooled for a moment.

Why This Must Be Read: This glorious, intense story is long. And incredibly teamy. Full of Jack and Daniel friendship, and scientific puzzles, and Teal'c sheer stubbornness, and Sam doing her best (and beyond) for her team, and Daniel taking his usual flying leaps of logic, and courage, and drama...

I love each and every one of them here. Bill Lee shines, Janet has a great cameo, and the comfort of the final scene is an absolute joy. Make sure you've got the time to read this all in one sitting, because you won't be able to stop!

Why This Must Be Read: This fic is almost impossible to categorize. It's a lovely S8 Teal'c perspective on his teammates. It's the satisfaction of seeing Daniel still delighting in the unknown after everything he's experienced. It's the marvel of offworld things that can't quite be explained, and the joy of the unknown, and Sam the skeptical scientist still embracing it. It's friendship, and character study, and a hint of Daniel/Sha're. And it just deserves to be read!

Why This Must Be Read: I adore fics that explore the remarkable friendship between Teal'c and Daniel. This is early, early S1 - post The Enemy Within - that features Teal'c and Daniel as two outsiders in a crowd, considering cultural conflicts and hoping to build some bridges together. Lovely stuff, all round!

Teal’s stood silently at parade rest, finally offering, “It is a temperate evening.”

Daniel frowned at him. “What?”

“I have observed that many of your people begin a conversation with meaningless exchanges concerning climate.”

“Oh, well.”

The silence stretched out again.

Why This Must Be Read: In that nebulous time of transition between the end of S8 and the beginning of S9, all of SG-1 - Jack, Sam, Teal'c, Daniel, and Jonas - achieve a rare moment of togetherness to contemplate their uncertain future.

I like the friendships, the reluctance to drift away, the tentative anticipation of where they might find themselves going. Add the bittersweet coda of a certain throwaway line from S10, and you'll find yourself wishing that the teaminess they share would have a way to last forever.

Why This Must Be Read: Powerful and painful, this is a stark, vivid painting of Teal'c's life as First Prime to Apophis. Canon tells us that Teal'c's rejection of the Goa'uld was a long, struggling process; this bleak character study is another step along the way.

There was nothing remarkable about the battle. Nothing at all.

Why This Must Be Read: Once upon a time, I recced Beatrice Otter's painfully powerful The Weight of Non-Existent Years. Here is the remix of that story, told from Sam's POV: much less angst, with the same stellar characterization, and a tribute to a beautiful friendship.

How do I bear this reminder of the symbiote, of Jolinar, of naquadah, of the enemy inside me? With feet planted and shoulders squared. How do I better accept insults from so-called superiors without the temptation to lose my composure every time? With irony added to the hard eyes, and no actual deference, although my chin is up. How do I deal with the utter absurdity of an alien race? With a raised eyebrow and deadpan delivery, perspective and the sucker-punch remark. How do I face the death of friends? With mourning, and respect, and persistence in the face of absence. Indeed. In deed.

Why This Must Be Read: I love early S1 Teal'c, when our favorite Jaffa is still trying to come to grips with the bizarre world and culture of the Tau'ri. And I love Jack fulfilling his promise to show Teal'c "our world." So this story, where a trip to a hockey game ends in disaster and Teal'c hasn't yet learned to cope with emergencies outside the SGC, is definitely a winner! Add some extra teamy goodness and classic Teal'c pwnage at the end of the fic for an extra treat. :)

Why This Must Be Read: Twelve short ficlets about the team and other characters, unexpectedly waylaid by routine matters on Earth that trigger powerful reactions to anyone involved with the Stargate. Why This Must Be Read: Five sharply delicious character observations of Teal'c, Jack, Daniel, Sam, and Cam, all the better for the depth that belies its brevity. The last killer line of Jack's is my favorite, but all of them are powerful. It's a very short read that will linger for a long time.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a fantastic look at two missing scenes from Changeling from Sam's perspective, first when the team discovers Teal'c and Bra'tac and then a conversation in the infirmary afterward. I love the implications of Jolinar's legacy for their friendship, the sensations lost and the new hopes found, and the warm connection between Sam and Teal'c. This is thoughtful, warming, and moving, all at once.

Why This Must Be Read: Teyla is surprised to learn that the SGC is more family-oriented than she thought. And it's not just biological relatives, either; SG-1 (they're all here but Jonas!) is definitely all about family of choice.

Call this bittersweet fluff and enjoy!

Jack blinks at the small, dark-haired, dusky-skinned toddler seated across the conference table in his mother's lap. Torren grins at him, and Jack crosses his eyes and sticks out his tongue to make the little boy giggle. Ha! Still got the touch.

Why This Must Be Read: In the wake of Unending, Teal'c has fifty years' worth of memories and loss that he can't share with anyone. Who else can offer therapy better than Jack O'Neill?

I love their understanding of one another and Jack's unique brand of comfort and peace at a time that Teal'c so badly needs it. Beautifully and powerfully done.

Jack glanced over at Teal'c. It was weird, seeing him aged, not just in body with the white at his temples and the fine lines around his eyes, but there was something else, too. An intangible bow to his back. A weight that even Bra'tac had never shown.

In this fascinating crossover with Farscape, Teal'c spends those two days struggling to find the path to his own reality... and exploring some fascinating AUs at the same time. The whole thing is excellent reading, but the last two paragraphs are my favorite!

Why This Must Be Read: Out of necessity, this is a mystery crossover. What makes it so gripping is the characterization: Jack as the competent, intelligent general of the SGC, his rapport and trust in his people (especially Sam), the reactions of the various characters, and the realistic fusion of SG-1 with a certain movie series that you needn't have actually watched (I haven't, personally) in order to recognize. Add a scene for each team member as they find that click that helps them recognize that they're truly home again, and this is a lovely, feel-good story that's pure old skool SG-1.

Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle had its own peculiar application to SG-1 teams. Observation made them twitchy. Janet had gotten a bit of a read on position in the infirmary. Hopefully watching them in more relaxed surroundings would give her a read on momentum. They should be trooping in soon.
