Daniel snark, disembodied Janet, sick Jack, hint of teamy goodness. Short and very sweet!

“He’s improved enough to be aggravating,” Daniel repeated, cheerfully.

Why This Must Be Read: I always love early season fic. This is a wonderful exploration of Janet's first real interaction with SG-1, when she is allowed off-world, at her insistence, to assess and judge the needs of medical assistance in the field. You'll enjoy her take-charge attitude, her outside observations of the team, and the trust she quickly wins. For Janet fans, this one is a real treat.

Why This Must Be Read: This fantastic exploration of the Bill Lee's first encounter with SG-1 - and, particularly, Daniel - is not only a gripping story, but also a wonderful outsider POV of team friendship. I love the way Bill tries to understand the dynamics of Sam and Jack and Daniel's interactions with one another, and how so much goes over his head even as the reader comprehends SG-1's unique closeness. Add typical Jb drama and tension, and you've got a long, engrossing story of SG-1 at its best.

Why This Must Be Read: Short and sweet, this fic showcases Janet wisely recognizing what Cassie needs when she's awash with the easy technological advances of Earth. Truly lovely, with a real early SG-1 feel.

She longed for the basic chores of home, busywork for the hands that calmed her mind and would, maybe, for a while, erase the images of her friends, family, her whole village dying around her.

Why This Must Be Read: Charming, fluffy teamy goodness, with humor and affection and snark. Jack's bedtime stories may leave something to be desired, but it's definitely the thought that counts!

“Once upon a time,” Jack began.

“In a kingdom far, far away,” Sam recited dutifully.

“There lived a beautiful princess,” Teal’c supplied.

“With an advanced degree in theoretical astrophysics,” Daniel chimed in.

Add Janet into the mix, and you've got a fascinating time travel story that perfectly suits SG-1.

Why This Must Be Read: This is the Little Doc in all her capable glory, keeping an eye on SG-1 after their return from P3R-118 and making sure they've found themselves in the wake of their memory stamps. I love how well she knows them! Add a scene for each team member as they find that click that helps them recognize that they're truly home again, and this is a lovely, feel-good story that's pure old skool SG-1.

Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle had its own peculiar application to SG-1 teams. Observation made them twitchy. Janet had gotten a bit of a read on position in the infirmary. Hopefully watching them in more relaxed surroundings would give her a read on momentum. They should be trooping in soon.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a wonderful look at an unexpected friendship: Catherine Langford and Janet Frasier, from their first clash in Torment and Tantalus to a melancholy, solitary moment in the wake of Heroes. Both women shine here as their friendship deepens over the years, seen in snapshots that touch on various episodes. A really lovely story!

The two women shared a smile before Catherine hopped down from the gurney. “Dr. Fraiser, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got an Air Force to bully.”

Fraiser wasn’t about to bet against the white-haired steamroller who sailed purposefully from the infirmary. She handed off the file in her hands and went to check on Dr. Littlefield.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a simply fabulous character sketch of Dr. Brightman, bringing her vividly and wonderfully to life. Thothmes extrapolates from the little we see of her onscreen and makes her an integral part of the SGC infirmary -- not replacing Janet, but complementing her with herown bedside manner. Medical personnel need to be a team, too, and here, we see Dr. Brightman as a major player. Add sprinklings of humor and cameos from Walter and Siler for a wonderful read!

If Dr. Fraiser, all 5'2" of her, was fire, then Allison Brightman, a tall 5'8", was ice. Ask any trained nurse, and he or she will tell you that there is a time to apply one, and a time to apply the other.

Why This Must Be Read: Sam may be at a low point post-Death Knell, physically and emotionally exhausted from the struggle with the Kell warrior and Jacob's subsequent disappearance with the Tok'ra, but at least she's got Janet's warm (and somewhat wicked) friendship to help keep her going. Add a nice scene with Jack in the infirmary, some reflection on Jacob, and a callout to Cassie, and you've got a satisfying story that you're sure to enjoy!

Reccer's note: there is a single half-sentence in the story that can probably be read as Sam/Jack UST. I personally had no trouble keeping my gen glasses firmly in place. :)

Janet grips Sam’s hand. “You’re going to be okay, Sam. It’s just going to take time.”

Sam nods and takes a deep, shaky breath. “I know.”
